6 Easy Ways to Energize Your Home
Feng Shui can help you energize your home!
Simply defined, Feng Shui (pronounced Fung Shway) is the ancient art of placement and design - translated, it means ‘wind and water.’ Feng Shui can help you create positive, supportive, and energizing spaces where you and your family spend time. One of the ways to do this is to only have items in your home that you absolutely love!
Surround yourself with things you love!
Take a few moments to assess all of the objects in one room of your home - to determine if you feel positive, negative or neutral - about each item. You may discover 1 or 2 items that you absolutely hate and wonder why you still have them in your home. The goal here is to surround yourself with things that you absolutely love and that reflect who you are now and who you’re becoming - versus whom you were 5, 10 or more years ago.
6 Feng Shui enhancers to energize your home!
Feng Shui focuses on enhancing the comfort, support, and vitality of your home. Using the guideline of surrounding yourself with those items you absolutely love, here is a list of 6 types of home enhancers or energizers - to inspire and stimulate your creativity and personal preferences!
1 - Light Producing or Refracting Objects: mirrors, crystals, and lighting
Mirrors can draw in light, and they are good for visually increasing space. Faceted, cut glass crystals can create interesting and dynamic patterns of light on walls and ceilings. Lighting is effective for areas that are too dark, and outdoor spotlights can dramatize outdoor entrances, walkways and landscaping. Lighting includes candles, fireplaces, and fire pits as well as lamps and natural lighting.
2 - Sound Makers: wind chimes, and music
Metal wind chimes or bells - which have a pleasing sound - can provide welcoming and comforting sounds. Music that you absolutely love can stimulate creativity and activity as well as provide a soothing and calming effect in your home.
3 - Living Things: plants, flowers, animals
Be sure that all are well cared for. Keep plants healthy and vibrant. Avoid the use of dead or dried flowers or plants unless there is a strong sentimental attachment. If living plants cannot be used, then use high quality artificial or silk plants to enhance and energize the rooms in your home.
4 - Objects of Nature: rocks, shells, statues
Rocks and other objects of nature have a solid, stabilizing effect, creating the feeling of strength and stability. They remind you of the special experiences you have had outdoors, such as a summer vacation to the beach or mountains. Statues - especially those with special meaning or significance - help you to feel supported and comforted in your home and garden spaces.
5 - Moving Objects: windmills, whirligigs, flags, and mobiles
Kites, banners, wind socks, windmills, whirligigs, and mobiles stimulate and energize your home and yard. Flag poles tend to have a powerful lifting and strengthening effect. Make sure that flags are clean and well maintained (versus tattered and faded).
6 - Water Features: fountains, waterfalls, ponds, and birdbaths
Indoor and outdoor water fountains and features offer enjoyable, natural sights and sounds to your home and outdoor spaces. Well-maintained aquariums can provide a dynamic focal point as well as a contemplative and calming effect. All water features must be kept impeccably clean and in good working condition.
Hopefully, this list will inspire you to think about some unique and personal ways that you can enhance and energize your home environment - both indoors and out!
