ABOUT THE CELEBRATION:
The 2008 Celebration of Entrepreneurs will feature executives from the Virginia-based venture fund Tall Oaks Capital(http://www.talloakscapital.com) as keynote speakers at PTEN’s annual event.
The event will also include remarks by Tim Janke of Inception Micro Angel Fund, Dixon Johnston of Piedmont Angel Network, and the announcement of PTEN’s four Growth Accelerator Program winners from a pool of eight companies which are: TrendFunnel, Smart Perfusion, King Concepts, Filigree Nanotechnology, Salzburg Therapeutics, Record Solutions Notebook, Longfiber enGINeering and Eco Everyday. Additionally, we will be recognizing Investor & Entrepreneur Hylton Wright.
ABOUT TALL OAKS CAPITAL:
Tall Oaks is led by four partners that possess over a century of seed and early stage investment and corporate experience. Working closely with entrepreneurial teams, they provide both the long-term investment support and the strategic guidance that seed and early stage companies need to grow and prosper.

SPEAKERS BIO:
Kathryne Carr
Prior to her association with Tall Oaks Capital, Kathryne co-founded Whetstone Partners, LLC in 1996 to help fund and grow new businesses in the healthcare sector. Whetstone Partners’ clients included a number of seed and early stage companies that originated in several academic research institutions. Whetstone also managed Platform Technology Holdings, an investor in several medical device companies, including SmartPill Diagnostics and Minrad International (AMEX: BUF).
Ms. Carr has held several executive and managerial positions, including Vice President of Operations for Insmed Pharmaceuticals, and Project Manager for Innotage Management.
Reenst Lesemann
Prior to his association with Tall Oaks Capital, Reenst ran a series of successful businesses including a maritime logistics spin off, TradeSource, Inc., that he created, led and managed. During his career, he has been responsible for all aspects of business management including strategic planning, marketing, and information services. Mr. Lesemann’s customers ranged from Fortune 50 to small businesses and were located in over 20 countries. He most recently served as Chief Executive Officer for D&R Development in Charlottesville, Virginia. Prior to joining D&R Development, he held various positions at Atlantic Services Group, Inc. and its affiliates in Charleston, South Carolina, including Vice President Operations, and President and Chief Executive Officer for four of Atlantic’s logistics subsidiaries.
